Luscombe - Cre8tive Rooms

QMotion controlled blinds are the perfect fit for new luxury home development.

Easy to control, automated blinds from QMotion UK are now an integral part of a new Savant-controlled luxury property scheme from developer, Excellare, in affluent Canford Cliffs, near Poole in Dorset.

Luscombe is a contemporary scheme of three brand new homes which marry iconic architecture with the natural contours and features of the land to create an environment of unmatched beauty. Each four-bedroom property will be finished to a high specification, including an indoor pool, sauna, wine room, gym with a fully integrated, smart home technology system designed and installed by CEDIA member, Cre8tive Rooms.

The Cre8tive Rooms’ system comprises multi-room audio and video throughout the home, allowing homebuyers to stream and watch entertainment content from multiple sources in any room, with speakers hidden in walls and ceilings, and amplifiers, cables and distribution equipment concealed out of sight in a central location. Wireless lighting control, data networking and CCTV technology has also been installed in the property with Savant providing the integrated control platform for easy access and convenient operation of all sub-systems. Quiet-running, automated blind control from QMotion is an intrinsic part of this smart Cre8tive Rooms solution. The company’s Director, Nick Sedgwick takes up the story.

“Floor to ceiling glass walls and large windows are a major feature of each property’s design, flooding the homes with light at certain times of day. We wanted an automated blind system that could help regulate light levels easily, fit the design aesthetic and integrate seamlessly with the other sub-systems for easy control by the Savant system. QMotion UK has met all these expectations and more.  The customer support team has also been helpful and supportive throughout. The end results look incredible.”

A total of 14 QMotion motorised roller blinds have been fitted within Optima, the first completed show property on the scheme, with plans to extend the technology on a similar scale to the remaining two houses, Oseleta and Ortega. Occupants can operate all the technology, including the blinds, from Savant remote devices, touch panels or from an app on their smartphone or tablet.

The blinds are versatile enough for automated operation individually or as a synchronised group, silently dropping to a pre-programmed position, when desired.  At the same time, QMotion features a manual override function which ensures that if, for any reason, the homebuyers choose to pull on any blind, it will respond, without causing any damage to the automated mechanism.  At the same time, two-way QMotion control sends a signal back from each blind to the Savant system, ensuring real-time positioning accuracy.

Aesthetically, the blinds are also an excellent fit within the contemporary interior. The sheer collection from QMotion was selected by Excellare for an understated, minimalist look whilst mere 13mm light gaps on each side of the blinds deliver optimum shading performance.

QMotion blinds are also ultra-energy efficient thanks to the company’s patented spring-counterbalancing system which keeps battery powered motor consumption to an absolute minimum and delivers near silent operation in every application. The recyclable D cell alkaline batteries will last for up to 3 years before replacement, based on two fully up and two fully down positions each day.
